After much anticipation, Logos is about to finally release their Qumran Biblical Dead Sea Scrolls Database. From what I understand, the release date for this product was pushed back several times over the last year. However, it is now official – Logos has confirmed a ship date of 2/16/11. I ordered this on pre-publication last Christmas (2009), so I am giddy about this news. I won’t need to head out to the library to look into a volume of DJD every time I need to reference a DSS biblical text. I am also excited about having the scrolls morphologically tagged and searchable!
I hope that sometime in the future both of the DSS databases (the biblical and sectarian) will feature actual photographs alongside of these fresh transcriptions. This type of feature would take this product into a new stratosphere, in my opinion.
